Statement by Stephen G. Duncan, Republican Party Chair, North Carolina's 11th Congressional District, regarding recent public statements about the 2008 Congressional election:

"We in the 11th District are excited about the upcoming 2008 Congressional election, where we are confident that we will unseat Mr. Shuler and restore a conservative who truly represents western North Carolina to the 11th District Congressional seat."

"As party chair, I encourage any interested candidates to step forward and run for this office.  We have many well-qualified, capable individuals here in the 11th District who would make excellent candidates.  Next year promises to be great year for the Republican Party and we look forward to making our mark and our contribution towards taking back control of Congress."
